These are the latest figures for July 2013 from the Metropolitan Police Service. A comparison of reported anti-Muslim crimes (listed as Islamophobic crimes by the MET), have risen by 61% comparing July 2012 to July 2013. Recent articles from the Telegraph questioned ‘rises’ in anti-Muslim prejudice which were mentioned by the Director of TELL MAMA. Well, here are results verified by the MET’s own figures! A 60% increment in such crimes has taken place which shows a worrying trend.

The London Borough of Tower Hamlets, Newham and Greenwich saw increments which were double or triple the numbers when compared to a year ago. Waltham Forest, Southwark and Lambeth also saw sharp rises.
