A mosque in the North West region of England has received numerous threats, letters with obscene language and even a cloned letter allegedly coming from the House of Commons and from the Prime Minister. The letter was clearly a hoax, yet it showed the levels some will stoop to target Muslims and their institutions.

One of the threats involved the following comment, “I hope you like the smell of petrol.”

The imam of the mosque who has served the mosque for over 3 years said that he had received over 6 letters this year and that this was a consistent campaign to target the institution, with similar letters being sent over the last few years.

Bizarrely, one of the letters was a clone of the House of Commons letter headed paper and signed by the Prime Minister whose electronic signature had been placed on the letter. The letter said, “too many Muslims are taking benefits. If the Conservatives win this election, every mosque must make monthly payments of £500.”

Others letters made further threats and contained hate speech. This is an example of the kind of language that they contained.

“Islam is a c**t of a religion

The prophet is a queer gay boy

You scum Muslims are ar**holes and the same colour as one

Get out of our city you will never be British.

Your religion is the cancer on the world

You are a parasite on society

Fu**ing kiddy fiddlers grooming children fuck*** scum”
