These are the latest stats of the Metropolitan Police Service’s hate crime figures to February 2014. A comparison of Islamophobic hate crimes from February 2013 to February 2014 in the respective boroughs, (and reported to the MET), show a 60% increase. This may well be due to the anti-Muslim backlash after the murder of Lee Rigby and the corresponding months where hate crime numbers slowly started to fall from the high peaks of June to September 2013.
