A Muslim family contacted Tell MAMA after their car and household were smeared with animal faeces last week.

The incident occurred on August 15.

Speaking to Tell MAMA, the woman confirmed that the excrement was placed on their front door and car, and consented for Tell MAMA to share the photos anonymously.

The animal faeces covered the front and back windscreens and the roof of the car.

She felt targeted because of her hijab and abaya, adding that they are the only Muslim family on the street but stressed that there were no existing issues with her neighbours.

Greater Manchester Police investigated the incident but closed the case, citing a lack of CCTV footage.

In 2017, Tell MAMA verified 81 reports of vandalism, an 88 per cent rise in this category of offence since the previous reporting period.
