On the start of the Sabbath, an antisemitic hate attack led to the death of 4 people shopping in a Kosher delicatessen in Paris. The targeted focus on the Kosher delicatessen was clearly driven by a motivation to cause greater shock waves in Paris and to lead to more fear within Jewish communities. It was also an attempt to try and get the Kouachi brothers away from their hemmed in position on the outskirts of Paris.
President Hollande talked this evening about the need to react with solidarity between communities. We agree. It is at a time like this that we say that targeted hate towards any community must lead to a co-ordinated and united approach. Today, we stand with Jewish communities and we say #JeSuisJuif:
